Navigating this journey with HABI’s support has had such a huge impact on our lives. HABI is more than just a group, it’s members have become our community where we feel welcome, understood and safe during a time of uncertainty and healing.

  • Kevin Franklin says:

HABI is a very special group that Ive been proud to be a part of since the beginning (way back to 2009). Its a very good group and I’ve learned so much helpful information about brain injury. It really makes a difference that HABI is run by its members – and the group has done a lot to promote awareness of brain injury in our area over the years. The friendships Ive made at HABI will last a lifetime. Its wonderful for HABI to be recognized because its really recognizing the contributions of people with brain injury in creating their own group!

  • Karen Lang says:

Once I heard about HABI, it was like a port in a storm when my daughter was critically injured and sustained a traumatic brain injury. It is a safe place to share with people who truly understand. I have learned so much through the educational speakers. I have made many friends who I know will be friends for the rest of my life. We have cried and laughed together. Someone is always there if you are going a through a rough time. A group that is more than worthy of this award!

  • Tanya Nolan says:

HABI inspired me to believe in a future. The group members are simply amazing. The support I have felt from this group is so authentic. Words sometimes do not even need to be said. Just a simple nod, smile or hug can say more than words when the members have shared experiences.

  • Lauren Brett says:

HABI is truly “one of a kind”. The way that HABI members join together to run meetings, meals, outings, and community advocacy while supporting each other is truly inspirational.

  • Kindrey Rowland says:

Congratulations HABI on your nomination!! HABI has been the little engine that could – starting small and growing into a steadfast support for the community. HABI members should be commended for their unwavering dedication to promote ABI awareness and education.
-through brain basics workshops and education sessions HABI has:
-trained social workers at child and family services; reached out to train staff at our local women’s and youth shelter as well as trained first responders, local PSWs and of course people with lived experience with acquired brain injury.
Through epic community picnics, 16 years of June month BBQs and town hall declarations , presentations at the library, farmer’s market booths, brochure drop offs to every physician in town – HABI has not stopped with its message of abi prevention, hope and inspiration! Wishing HABI another 16 years of success supporting people with brain injury and their families!
    HABI truly is a family.
