2024 HOSPITAL SOCIAL WORKER OF THE YEAR NOMINEE

Jessica Evans

Jessica Evans

Nominated For: HOSPITAL SOCIAL WORKER OF THE YEAR

Jessica Evans is a dedicated and compassionate social worker who graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Social Work from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, in 2019. With five years of professional experience, Jessica has been a valuable team member at Hamilton General Hospital, specifically within the regional Trauma, Emergency, and Critical Care programs.

Embarking on social work as a second career, Jessica brings a wealth of life experience and a profound commitment to advocating for patients and their families. Her passion lies in ensuring that trauma-informed care is at the forefront of all interactions while providing holistic and empathetic support to those in need. Jessica is a particularly strong advocate for those who are marginalized, such as individuals experiencing homelessness and individuals with substance use disorders. Recognizing that these individuals often fall through the cracks of social systems and are released from hospitals with less access to appropriate care. Jessica works from a client-centered approach. Additionally, she is dedicated to educating and guiding colleagues to practice from a trauma-informed perspective, enhancing the overall care environment.

Outside of her professional life, Jessica finds comfort and joy in her two beloved dogs, Girdy (pictured) and Goose, who are a constant source of companionship and happiness.
