2025 COMMUNITY BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION OF THE YEAR NOMINEE

Hamilton Brain Injury Association (HBIA)

Hamilton Brain Injury Association (HBIA)

Nominated For: COMMUNITY BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION OF THE YEAR

The Hamilton Brain Injury Association is more than an organization, it’s a community of compassion, resilience, and hope. For almost four decades, we’ve walked alongside survivors of acquired brain injury and their families, helping them rebuild, reconnect, and find their voice again. Through peer support, education, and advocacy, we work to ensure no one has to face the challenges of brain injury alone. This nomination is a celebration of every survivor’s courage, every caregiver’s dedication, and the collective effort of our volunteers, partners, and supporters who believe in a future where understanding and inclusion are the norm. Together, we turn challenges into possibilities and hope into action.

I’m surprised the Brain Injury Association of Windsor Essex was nominated, considering I had to remind the wife and employee of the law firm representing ABI survivors about the human rights code. I share this with the expectation it will be kept confidential, since legal professionals often seem more concerned with protecting corrupt law firms and lawyers than upholding the rule of law or their own rules of professional conduct. Having received my cancer treatment at Juravinski in Hamilton—which was excellent—I believe the same level of support can also be said for the Hamilton Brain Injury Association. For the reasons above, I’m supporting Hamilton.
