Melanie has dedicated the past 16 years to her career as a Hospital Social Worker, supporting patients and families across a variety of departments, including the Neurosurgery unit. She is currently the Social Worker for the Intensive Care Unit, where she meets with families at the time of an initial brain injury diagnosis and continues to support them until transition into acute care. Melanie is recognized for her ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered support while also bridging communication across medical teams and connecting families with vital community resources. She was also part of the hospital’s working group that developed a pathway for brain injury patients, strengthening continuity of care and improving patient outcomes. Known for her empathy, professionalism, and strong advocacy, Melanie continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients and families during some of their most challenging moments.
