We have a strong clinical leadership team including a Neuropsychologist, and Directors and Managers who are all senior OTs with expertise in cognitive rehab. We are backed by a diverse staff of seasoned, multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals and we customize treatment programs for every person. By creating partnerships, connections and sharing resources within the community, we are able to cultivate a sense of integration and direction that offers promise and hope to brain injury survivors. Our multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team includes Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Behaviour Therapists, Teachers, Addictions Counsellors, Kinesiologists, and Rehab Therapists. We also work closely with Physiatrists, Neuropsychiatrists, and other physician experts to complement our services. We are passionate about private and public partnerships to create pathways and fill care gaps for individuals with concussion and brain injury. For over 20 years, our leaders have volunteered as Presidents and Directors on Brain Injury Boards and committees, supported, and connected our clients / families with OBIA and local brain injury associations including BIST, BIAN, HBIA, ORA, PABIN and Neurotrauma Pathways. As well, some of our OTs and leaders have been selected to present at the OBIA conference and other brain injury conferences. Through the Bayshore Foundation for Empowered Living, we fund registered charities that support people living with injury, illness or aging and help them reclaim or maintain their independence. We are dedicated and passionate about brain injury rehabilitation and love giving back to the communities we serve!

Our employees operate with fundamental values in mind and pride themselves on customized care and advocacy. We ensure they are equipped with the best brain injury and cognitive rehab education (e.g., OBIA Brain Basics Program, access to brain injury workshops internally and externally), in addition to providing cognitive rehab training/resources through our customized Learning Management Systems and expert guest speakers. We received the highest recognition of exemplary standing from Accreditation Canada in 2014 and since 2019 have been Accredited by ISO to ensure high quality clinical programming, standards of care, outcomes, operations, and strategic planning.

  Katie is very passionate about Volunteering her time along with her Better Half ? with BIAN Brain Injury Association Niagara. She actually recruited myself to assist with running BIANs inaugural Event to assist with Brain Injury Victims. Katie after being President of BIAN for 8 years stepped down 2 years ago yet has been a Volunteer for BIAN and attends meetings religiously.
  
  I must say after volunteering for 40 years myself, it is quite refreshing to see someone with this passion Katie has for the betterment of people.

I have known and supported NRIO since it’s inception in 1993. NRIO has remained a person-focused organization and has provided essential rehabilitation services to people living with brain injury in progressive community-based settings. I have collaborated with Bayshore NRIO for over 15 years, witnessing its evolution into the exceptional, comprehensive brain injury treatment center it is today. NRIO stands out due to its exceptional and world class leadership (Colleen Boyce-WOW-you are an inspiration, mentor and role model to so many of us in the industry), dedication to transparency, and commitment to trauma-informed, client-centered care. Their continual development of residential and outpatient programs deeply impresses me. Over the years, I have referred numerous clients to NRIO, recognizing the immense value of providing a warm and welcoming environment for individuals with brain injuries. This environment offers crucial support, helping many to combat isolation, depression, and suicidal ideation by fostering a sense of purpose and belonging. I have been fortunate enough to have been dealing professionally with Bayshore for the last 5/6 years and I have to say how seamless our working relationship has been.

In my experience, Bayshore helps their clients by being timely, following best practices, assigning knowledgeable staff, advocating for clients, going above and beyond to help them meet their goals, having positive outcomes. Katie, Lindsay, and the team at Bayshore are amazing! They are very responsive – they always ensure OTs are assigned ASAP on all of our referrals and that the OCF-18s are submitted quickly and correctly. They also have a great management style and collaborative approach with their team. The team of OTs at Bayshore are also awesome – they are all caring, proactive, and knowledgeable. They are dedicated professionals who go above and beyond, and who are always strong advocates for our clients. They are very communicative with adjusters, the treatment team, and the legal team, which is very important in this industry. Our clients really value the assistance they receive from Bayshore OTs in meeting their goals, and we can rest easy knowing that our clients are in good hands with the team at Bayshore. I have worked for and with NRIO for 30 years. I have had clients in various programs, always with a positive outcome. Colleen Boyce, the face of the company, treats clients and their families with integrity and respect and is a solid advocate for clients’ needs I love that she has an understanding of the underlying emotional needs of individuals with brain injury. Bayshore provides outstanding rehabilitation services for survivors of brain injury, but also provides much needed advocacy and support by volunteering on Boards and committees and helping to raise much needed funds for Brain Injury Associations across the province. Our son wouldn’t still be here today, if it wasn’t for NIRO.

After the accident, after the extensive hospitalization, after the hospital rehabilitation stays, after the at home care, we were in over our heads – we couldn’t give our son the care he needed.

Thankfully, NIRO took on the challenge.

Although there have been many ups and many downs, NIRO hasn’t given up.

Our son (and us) has been so lucky to have the support NIRO has provided.

Unfortunately, our accident benefits are almost extinguished, and we won’t be able to continue with NIRO, but the team is working tirelessly to help us secure government funded care that specializes in brain injury rehabilitation.

Finally, we (and our son) would like to single out some extraordinary individuals for “never giving up”, when most others would have: Colleen, Kindree, Deborah, Kim, Garvin, & Frank.

I truly value the strong mentorship by the Rehab Managers and Director, the monthly education sessions with guest speakers and opportunities to develop my skills to provide the best services for our clients with brain injury. Many of our leaders volunteer on brain injury and rehabilitation Boards and committees to give back to the community. Bayshore Therapy & Rehab and NRIO also attends many fundraisers and events to support brain injury associations across the Province, including the OBIA conference. The Bayshore Therapy & Rehab/NRIO team always go above and beyond to ensure that clients and their families are supported.
