Brain Injury Association of London and Region has been developing innovative programs to maximize the quality of life for individuals affected by brain injury, their families, and caregivers for more than 29 years. Serving the counties of Middlesex, Oxford, Elgin, Huron and Perth, the association works extensively with volunteer community members and professionals to organize support groups, social leisure groups, peer support mentoring, and respite care, as well as workshops and training sessions. Publications include: a Brain Injury Services Directory, a Legal Guide, a Resource Guide for Parents, and a quarterly magazine. The Association also partners with other community organizations to extend its services to the community. It is a co-founder and supporting partner of Camp Dawn, a residential camp attended annually by some 120 individuals affected by brain injury. It co-founded the Helmets on Kids Partnership, distributing more than 17,000 bicycle helmets over the past 13 years. It joined the See the Line partnership in 2014 to help promote concussion research and awareness. Most recently, the Association co-founded the Year of the Brain 2015 project that brought together 18 brain related organizations in the development of the Brain Health Network of Southwest Ontario. The Association is an affiliate of the Ontario Brain Injury Association and a member of Imagine Canada.
