My name is Renée Guertin I am Social Worker on the Intensive Rehabilitation Unit at Health Sciences North for nearly 4 years. I am a graduate from the Social Work Program at Laurentian University in the French Stream. I’ve worked in the Social Services sector prior to this employment as a Case Manager and also a in a supervisory role which has helped me create great relationships with stakeholders and also advocate for my patients and their families. I am always seeking to further my knowledge whether it’s taking courses related to brain injuries or attending conferences.

As a Social Worker I strive for rapport building with my patient’s to ensure a level of comfort between myself, the patient and their family. I’ve assisted patients with referrals to community agencies for a successful discharge from the hospital, ensuring the needs of the patient and social supports are met while promoting their independence.

I’m also actively working with Allied Health Team on the Rehabilitation unit along with the nursing staff, Physicians and Psychologist to achieve the best outcome for the patients.
