Jennifer James has been working in the field of Social Services and helping people in difficult situations for over 30 years. Graduating with a Sociology degree from Carleton University in 1989, she started her career with the Simcoe Community Services (formerly BDAPSN), in Barrie Ontario. In 1995, Jennifer transitioned into the Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) accident benefits industry, working with Rehabilitation Management Inc., as a Case Manager. She briefly left the world of MVC rehabilitation, from 2004-2012, working as a Vocational Counsellor and Job Developer, while running her own creative painting and design company. Returning to Rehabilitation Management Inc., in 2012, she was then welcomed to the Abilities Rehabilitation Services team in October 2016. Through industry supported workshops and University programs, Jennifer has upgraded her skills and obtained her certification in Level 1 & 2 in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. In May 2020, she commenced the Masters of Counselling Psychology program through Yorkville University, distance education, while continuing to work full time.

Jennifer has experience working with individuals from all backgrounds and age ranges who have sustained catastrophic impairments. She facilitates referrals, works with treatment teams across the province, with focus on northern and underserviced communities. She is a strong advocate for her clients, promoting forward thinking, coordinated rehabilitation services, and provision of equipment, to meet their needs.
